UK Initiatives
Essex Caribbean Farm
Bridging Sustainable development initiatives between the UK & Caribbean.
Essex Caribbean Farm is the UK’s first dedicated agricultural initiative focused on growing Caribbean fruits and vegetables through precision breeding. Led by Carbon Diamond UK, we have the skills, knowledge, and experience of land development, sustainable initiatives, and adaptation of Caribbean crops such as avocado, okra, sweet potato, and callaloo to thrive in the UK’s climate using sustainable, science-driven methods.

Key Features of the Project
-
Precision breeding to develop UK-compatible varieties of tropical crops.
-
Greenhouse and field trials across Essex to test climate resilience, nutrition, and shelf life.
-
A 36-month delivery model spanning research, development, and commercial pilot.
-
Collaboration with African Caribbean and Latin American communities to shape impact and market focus.
-
Distribution strategy targeting retailers, restaurants, food box schemes, and large supermarkets such as Tesco.
-
Educational outreach and policy engagement to scale the model nationally.
-
Essex Caribbean Farm is more than an agricultural project. It is a commitment to food justice, innovation, and sustainability.
-
By reducing import dependency and supporting diverse communities with local, culturally familiar produce, the farm brings together science and heritage to build a more inclusive and resilient food future for the UK.
